Who Created My Writers Workshop?

These resources were created by an elementary teacher in the Seattle School District – Stephanie Paolone.   Stephanie has a Masters Degree in Education with an Endorsement in Special Education from the University of Washington.   She has experience teaching Kindergarten through 5th grade, has been literacy coach, a literacy specialist, a mathematics coach, and a mathematics specialist.  Stephanie also served on an advisory panel for the National Council of Teachers of Mathematics at their headquarters in Washington, DC.

Stephanie has attended many Writers Workshop Institutes (training courses) as well as National Reading and Math Conferences over the last 4 years.  New York, Seattle, Atlanta, St. Louis – you name it, she’s been there for some kind of course or conference.  Stephanie took her knowledge from these events, combined them with her focused work as a specialist, years of teaching, and constructed the one of a kind resources you find on My Writers Workshop and My Readers Workshop.

What Is Writers Workshop?

Writer Workshop is a straightforward and flexible way to structure your literacy block.  The pedagogy is to engage students at the appropriate literacy level, breaking apart the literacy block into an efficient and effective routine.  It allows for educators to individualize to students needs and differentiate across the spectrum of learners and frees up the teachers instructional time to confer with individual learners.
